The Dog Dosha Quiz

Fourteen questions across five assessment categories. Each section scores toward Vata, Pitta, or Kapha. The combined score assigns a primary pattern, and every recommendation that follows traces back to it.

This is what makes the credential defensible. Two certified groomers in two different cities, assessing the same dog, arrive at the same conclusion.

The Three Patterns

What the score tells you

The quiz separates constitution, meaning the dog's baseline type, from current state, meaning what is showing up right now because of season, stress, or environment. Both matter, and knowing the difference is the skill.

Vata

Dryness, nervous energy, sensitivity, rough paws, a dull coat. The dog who cannot settle on the table and recovers slowly from being handled.

Pitta

Runs hot, pinks up easily, reactive, needs cooling. The dog whose skin flares in summer and whose owner is always asking about the itching.

Kapha

Heavy or oily coat, shedding, odor, folds, buildup. The dog whose coat holds everything and whose owner has given up on the shedding.

The Certification

Six weeks, graded, with a case review at the end.

Weeks 1 and 2 build the diagnostic foundation. Week 3 puts the quiz into a real consultation. Week 4 proves the consultation carries value with no product attached. Weeks 5 and 6 cover ethical recommendations and business implementation.

    Foundations of the Era Method

    The five pillars: Environment, Movement, Nutrition, Touch, Rhythm. Constitution versus current state. Scope of practice, in detail, before anything else.

  • Week 2

    Administering the Dog Dosha Quiz

    The technical core. Quiz structure, scoring logic, mixed pattern results, and seasonal recalibration. You leave able to score a dog correctly and explain the result to an owner in plain language.

    AssignmentAdminister the full quiz to 5 dogs. Submit raw scores, calculated pattern, and a one line rationale for each.
  • Week 3

    From Quiz Results to Consultation

    The six step live consultation sequence, start to finish, without sounding scripted or unsure. This is the part clients actually experience and pay for.

    AssignmentRun 2 full consultations. Submit scores, confirmed pattern, observation notes, recommendation given, and what felt difficult.
  • Week 4

    Recommendations Independent of Product

    Treatment recommendation, home care recommendation, optional product recommendation. This week exists to prove the credential does not depend on selling anything.

    AssignmentWrite one complete product free plan for each of the three patterns, referencing specific quiz results.
  • Week 5

    Ethical Product Integration

    The three level recommendation ladder. Every recommendation traces back to quiz data rather than a sales script, which is exactly why it does not feel like one.

  • Week 6

    Certification and Business Implementation

    Pricing the consult, adding it to your booking system, building a client wellness file over time, seasonal re-quizzing, and rebooking cadence.

Master Practitioner

The full Certified Pet Wellness Consultant credential, a formal practicum, and eligibility to train others.

Groomers should not replace veterinary care. We are direct about that, and the boundary is trained into the method from Week 1 rather than added as a disclaimer at the end.

A certified practitioner does
