The Method

A real credential, not a weekend workshop.

The Era Animal Wellness Method turns what a groomer already sees into a structured, repeatable assessment. It is built on an instrument, the Dog Dosha Quiz, so the result does not depend on who is holding the brush. This is what makes it defensible in front of a client, and what makes certification mean something.

Instrument Based

"Two certified groomers, in two different cities, assessing the same dog, arrive at the same conclusion."

That is the difference between a credential and an opinion. The method separates a dog's underlying constitution from its current state, scores it the same way every time, and gives every practitioner the same language to explain what they are seeing.

The Dog Dosha Quiz

Fourteen questions. Five categories. One clear pattern.

The quiz is the heart of the method. Fourteen structured questions across five observation categories produce a score, and that score points to one of three constitutional patterns. It takes about two minutes, and on a practitioner's website it doubles as a lead generator, capturing the pet parent before they ever book.

01

Body and Energy

Build, activity, and how the dog carries and paces itself.

02

Skin and Coat

Texture, moisture, shedding, and the everyday condition of the coat.

03

Behavior and Grooming

How the dog responds to handling, water, tools, and the process.

04

Stress and Sensitivity

Reactivity, recovery, and where the dog sits on the calm to anxious range.

05

Health Pattern

Seasonal shifts and recurring patterns the owner may not think to mention.

The result, in language a pet parent instantly gets.

Behind the scenes it is Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. To the client, it is a warm, memorable type for their dog, and a clear reason for the care you recommend.

A sensitive, fine coated dog
The Sensitive Soul · Vata

Dry and delicate

Fine or dry coat, rough paws, nervous energy. Needs nourishing, calming, grounding care.

A warm, lively dog
The Firecracker · Pitta

Runs hot

Warm skin, pinks up and itches in summer, reactive. Needs cooling, soothing care.

A fluffy, heavy coated dog
The Fluffy Marshmallow · Kapha

Carries the coat

Thick or oily coat, heavy shedding, folds and buildup. Needs a reset and steady maintenance.

Scope of Practice

The boundary is built in, not bolted on.

Scope safety is the first thing taught and the last thing compromised. A certified practitioner has a clear, defensible lane, and knows exactly where it ends.

What a practitioner does

  • Observes coat, skin, behavior, and seasonal patterns
  • Assesses with the standardized Dog Dosha Quiz
  • Educates the owner on everyday, at-home care
  • Recommends grooming rituals and optional products
  • Refers to a veterinarian when something needs one

What a practitioner never does

  • Diagnose a medical condition
  • Treat illness or injury
  • Prescribe or advise on medication
  • Replace or stand in for veterinary care
